Job Brief:

We're looking for a Probation Officer to work in our busy office. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising offenders on probation and ensuring they comply with the terms of their probation. If you have experience working with offenders and a passion for making a difference in your community, we want to hear from you!

Probation Officer Duties:

  • Assist in correcting, rehabilitating, or releasing offenders
  • Evaluate the risk factors of the individual
  • Perform interviews with clients to assess eligibility and suitability for services
  • Provide case management services to the client
  • Monitor participants in the community
  • Ensure that participants comply with all requirements
  • Cooperate with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records
  • Implement training
  • Provide regular progress reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Probation Officer Responsibilities:

  • Interview convicted felons and supervise them in pre- and post release programs, including community service, work release, and transitional work programs
  • Develop and implement release plans, and monitor post release compliance
  • Train and monitor participants to ensure completion of assigned tasks in a manner consistent with agency goals
  • Develop and implement participant retention strategies
  • Perform administrative support, including data entry and reporting, database management, and program evaluation
  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained, including proper documentation of all case management activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • 2+ years experience in a law enforcement or supervision role
