Product Designer Job Description

A product designer is responsible for creating products that will be marketed and sold to consumers.

Product Designer Duties:

• Design and implement electronic products and hardware for new and existing products.
• Design electronics and circuitry into products.
• Design products and computer applications.
• Develop new products.
• Create user and user manuals.
• Develop specifications for product development.
• Develop prototypes, test and inspect them.
• Assist in research, testing, and development of products.
• Develop designs and plans.
• Create prototypes.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and testing machines.
• Collaborate with engineers and other team members.
• Carry out testing, processing, assembly, and testing of products.
• Maintain and update existing products.

Product Designer Responsibilities:

• Ensure products, features, and services are consistently aligned with market requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify design opportunities.
• Create design briefs and product specifications that communicate design direction to engineers.
• Design user interfaces, including user flows and storyboards.
• Propose and execute design solutions to address business problems.
• Create sketches, designs, and prototypes of UI elements.
• Translate business goals into user scenarios, and user scenarios into design specifications.
• Manage usability testing activities, and analyze feedback.
• Perform code reviews, and provide design feedback to the development team.
• Assist in the creation of style guides, and design flows that guide the next design cycle.
• Work closely with project team and QA team throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
• Work with partners for software integration, continuous integration, and product release.

Requirements And Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or product design.
• 2+ years’ relevant experience in product design.
• Strong design skills.
• Strong working knowledge of CAD programs.
• Knowledge of safety standards.
