Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Project Engineer to manage the construction of a new office building. The engineer will be responsible for overseeing the project from start to finish, ensuring that the building is constructed according to the plans and within the budget.

Project Engineer Duties:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage all technical aspects of projects.
  • Prepare design specifications and project plans.
  • Ensure work meets all quality standards.
  • Provide direction to contractors working on site.
  • Develop and maintain team relationships with architects, general contractors, and other external stakeholders.

Project Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage concept, design, and detail engineering drawings for construction projects.
  • Review engineering designs, specifications, and estimates, making recommendations where appropriate to enhance technical and cost effectiveness.
  • Review and manage project schedules, and submit schedules and planning reports for client approval as necessary.
  • Develop and manage procurement and contracting processes, including response to RFQs and RFPs, and negotiation of contracts.
  • Develop and manage quality assurance and quality control programs to assure requirements are met, including preparation of certifications and qualifications of contractors and subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage construction budget including development of cost models and cost forecasts, and preparation of reports and budget analysis.
  • Manage technical activities including prefabrication of construction components.

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or related field.
  • 3+ years experience in a professional engineering role.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of general construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts.
  • Knowledge of building code requirements and scheduling methods.
