Property inspectors visit residential and commercial properties and make an unbiased, professional assessment of their condition.

Property inspectors evaluate structures, such as a house, to assess the overall condition and identify any potential problems.

They can also inspect the interior and exterior of buildings, such as foundations and roofs, for signs of damage.

Property inspectors may inspect apartment buildings, offices, schools, and other buildings.

Property inspectors also inspect vacant properties, such as vacant homes, apartments, and empty commercial real estate.

Property inspectors are responsible for identifying and inspecting all defects and safety issues, then reporting this information to the property owner.

Job Brief:

We're looking for a Property Inspector who is reliable and detail-oriented to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience inspecting properties and be able to identify any potential issues. If you are a motivated individual with a keen eye for detail, then we want to hear from you!

Property Inspector Duties:

  • Performs physical property inspections including size and condition evaluation, qualitative evaluation, and identification of defects
  • Identifies defects through visual inspections, measuring, and calculations
  • Performs general or specialized building inspections, including structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and fire protection systems
  • Provides direction and supervision to inspectors and employees of all levels
  • Reviews inspection reports and test results
  • Develops inspection reports and prepares written reports

Property Inspector Responsibilities:

  • Inspect properties and identify issues, such as structural or mechanical problems, code violations, etc., and relay findings to property owners
  • Research property conditions and applicable laws to prepare reports on findings
  • Conduct site visits and inspections, such as structural surveys, windstorm damage assessments, and radon testing
  • Supervise and perform technical work, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, on-site sewage disposal systems, and septic systems
  • Train other inspectors

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in construction management, engineering, mechanical, or architectural engineering
  • 2+ years’ proven experience as a construction inspector
  • Knowledge of construction methods and technologies, and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
  • Knowledge of building code requirements and scheduling
