Radiology Technician Job Description

Radiology technicians, also known as radiologic technologists, work in hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, and physician offices.

They work in physical healthcare facilities, outpatient facilities, and clinics, or they may work in research laboratories.

They work under the supervision of radiologists, physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disease using medical imaging.

Radiology technicians interpret radiographic images for physicians and radiologists.

Job Brief:

We're looking for a Radiology Technician who is able to provide excellent patient care while performing a variety of radiographic procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Radiology Technician Duties:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures in a medical facility under the direction of a physician
  • Performs radiologic imaging procedures, such as general radiology, mammography, mammography, sonography, and CT scanning
  • Assists physicians in the administration of anesthesia and placement of patients for imaging procedures
  • Builds rapport with patients
  • Assists patients in preparing for procedures
  • Clarifies patient instructions prior to procedures
  • Preparing and completing patient records and documentation
  • Communicates clearly and concisely with patients, physicians, and other medical personnel
  • Follows all safety protocols and procedures
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with all personnel

Radiology Technician Responsibilities:

  • Associate’s degree or relevant on-the-job training required (California Board of Registered Nursing approval)
  • Experience working with patients in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong grasp of medical terminology preferred
  • Ability to remain calm and work with patients of all ages
  • Ability to work during extended patient hours
