Recruiting Manager Job Description

A recruiting manager is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and hiring qualified candidates for open positions within an organization.

A recruiting manager works with the hiring team (usually consisting of the Human Resource Manager, the Hiring Manager, and the Hiring Manager's direct reports), hiring managers and human resources associates at multiple offices to identify qualified candidates for open positions.

Once a potential candidate has been identified, the recruiting manager completes the candidate's employment application, conducts initial interviews, and screens the candidate to determine their eligibility for open positions.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve specialized recruiting software and other necessary recruiting tools
  • Recruit for employees in key job functions, such as technology, engineering, construction, and management
  • Approve and hire new employees
  • Establish and maintain knowledge of labor markets
  • Provide information about job benefits, legal issues, and other pertinent information to applicants
  • Maintain applicant tracking system

Recruiting Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain recruitment plans and procedures
  • Plan and execute daily recruiting activities
  • Hire and onboard new employees, including conducting interviews, completing reference checks, setting schedules, and training new employees
  • Develop and maintain relationships with candidates, including networking and referrals
  • Source candidates from referrals, advertisements, online job postings, employee referrals, headhunters, job fairs, campus recruiting, and interviews
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date candidate database
  • Maintain all employee files and records according to company policies
  • Maintain and reconcile all hiring, onboarding, and payroll records
  • Maintain benefits administration, including benefit renewals and open enrollment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
