Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Reporter to join our team and help us cover the stories that matter. As a Reporter, you will be responsible for researching and writing stories, as well as taking photos and videos to support your stories. Reporter Duties:

  • Research and write news stories for selected media including newspapers, magazines, and other media
  • New media, such as online and print, require the development of new skills, especially the ability to report and write quickly
  • Research background sources for articles
  • Keep abreast of current events and news developments
  • Send releases to media contacts
  • Write stories on a busy deadline
  • Develop and maintain contacts within media, achieving publicity goals
  • Work closely with editors and producers
  • Monitor online news sources, such as CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and AOL News

Reporter Responsibilities:

  • Produce daily and weekly metrics reports for a variety of projects, analyze data, and summarize current project status within provided departmental formats, using Excel and Access
  • Support research and information requests by identifying and compiling data, data retrieval, and information distribution
  • Train and mentor junior analysts
  • Support month-end closing, internal control, and audit processes

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or related field
  • 2+ years’ proven experience in journalism, writing, editing or copywriting
  • Knowledge of AP Style Guide
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and report financial information
