Restaurant Manager Job Description

The Restaurant Manager (or Restaurant General Manager) is the overarching leader at a restaurant.

While the specific duties vary per restaurant, the Restaurant Manager needs to evaluate the daily operations of the restaurant, create and update the company’s standards of service, supervise and train line personnel, plan and implement the business strategy, and provide direction to support staff.

The Restaurant Manager also needs to ensure that restaurant guests are greeted, seated, and served promptly and professionally.

While interviewing potential Restaurant Managers, many employers will stress the importance of the ability to communicate with guests and staff, as well as the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
