Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Safety Coordinator who is passionate about safety and has a strong desire to help others. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs, conducting safety training, and conducting safety audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.

Safety Coordinator Duties:

  • Provide training, including safety, to all employees of the organization
  • Insist on compliance with all safety rules and regulations
  • Track and report safety procedures and incidents
  • Maintain a proactive, safety-focused work environment
  • Document all accidents, injuries, and other incidents in a clear and concise manner and report them to management
  • Proactively identify, mitigate, and track recurring safety issues
  • Provide leadership for on-site safety committees

Safety Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Implement and promote work safety regulations, such as wearing proper protective equipment, following proper handling and storage procedures, and maintaining a clean, hazard-free job site
  • Supervise the safety performance of key personnel; develop and implement safety training strategies
  • Research, observe, and evaluate current safety regulations, and suggest modifications where appropriate, based on experience
  • Develop and implement accident prevention programs and inspect job sites to ensure compliance with safety requirements
  • Create written records and reports, such as safety inspections, accident reports, and training programs, and, when necessary, issue safety citations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with safety officers, safety consultants, and OSHA

Requirements And Skills:

  • Associate’s degree or trade school certification in a health and safety related field
  • 2+ years’ health and safety management experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety laws and procedures
  • Ability to manage safety projects, including hazard assessment
  • Ability to develop and implement safety policies and procedures
