Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Specimen Processor to join our team! The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a laboratory setting and be able to work independently. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented and takes pride in their work.

Specimen Processor Duties:

  • Follow established company procedures by completing duties, including preparing specimens for laboratory testing
  • Collect and store specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Prepare and analyze test results
  • Follow data recording and storage procedures
  • Grade samples, interpret data, and report results
  • Process laboratory orders
  • Report minor laboratory issues or malfunctions to supervisor
  • Maintain laboratory supplies
  • Maintain up-to-date laboratory certification
  • Perform other duties as required

Specimen Processor Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing samples and specimens (i.e., tissue samples/samples of blood, urine, and/or or feces), including collecting, processing, and shipping them
  • Work under limited supervision
  • Key responsibilities include:
  • 1-Performing all tasks associated with processing (i.e., sample collection/containers, fixation, sectioning, staining, and imaging) of various types of specimens (i.e., tissues, blood, urine, and/or or feces) according to department procedures and protocols
  • 2-Maintaining work schedules, processing schedules, and quality control records
  • Obtaining all necessary laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Performing all tasks associated with sample/specimen/tissue collection, processing, and/or storage
  • Assisting in preparation of clinical reports, including data entry of clinical information

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or science
  • 1-2 years of experience processing biological specimens
  • Knowledge of laboratory methods and technologies, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
