A stock controller is in charge of the physical movements of the stocks held in a company’s warehouse.

A stock controller moves stock between locations, and is responsible for recording stock transfers.

Stock controllers may operate a warehouse, where they ensure the correct quantities of stock are available.

Stock controllers may also operate a receiving area, where they receive stock from a warehouse and process it for delivery to customers.

Stock controllers may also operate a storage area, where they observe and record the storage conditions of company stock.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Stock Controller to join our team and help us keep track of our inventory. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and be able to hit the ground running. Stock Controller Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control systems
  • Maintain accurate inventories of finished goods, raw materials, and equipment
  • Maintain up-to-date records of purchases and sales
  • Track flow of stock through the company
  • Promote inventory as an asset within the company

Stock Controller Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate inventory staff
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and physical inventory counts, including receiving, stocking, moving, and rotation of material, while enforcing preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Maintain proper storage and security of materials, and schedule shipments and arrange storage to ensure that materials are available at needed locations
  • Create and maintain inventory systems and procedures, including processes for purchasing of materials, staging of materials prior to shipping, and tracking of receipt of materials
  • Perform overall general accounting responsibilities including sales reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger entries, and monthly closing
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 3+ years experience in inventory control
  • Ability to perform a variety of inventory control procedures
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of inventory planning and control
  • Knowledge of inventory control and analysis software
