Surgical Coordinator Duties:

  • Manage and coordinate surgical cases from start to finish, ensuring all areas are functioning as required
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field
  • Four-year degree preferred
  • Previous experience in medical surgical nursing preferred
  • Current state license for nurse anesthetist required
  • Interpersonal skills

Surgical Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Meet with surgeons and anesthesiologists to discuss cases, and schedule and administer medical procedures
  • Advise surgeons of progress, and problem-solve complications
  • Source, acquire, and organize medical equipment and supplies
  • Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Monitor inventory and bill supplies to facility
  • Record patient history, including allergies and pre-existing conditions
  • Maintain QAPI compliance
  • Monitor operating room schedules, and process bills for surgical procedures
  • Remove and clean all surgical instruments after use
  • Perform other duties and other work as required

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field
  • Two+ years’ proven experience in an acute care setting
  • Strong background in operational procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
