System administrators are computer experts or specialists who manage computer systems.

They monitor and maintain computer systems so they are up and running at peak efficiency.

System administrators often have a degree in computer science, information system management, or a related discipline.

They are also sometimes called systems administrators or network administrators.

System administrators oversee computer servers, network devices, operating systems, and databases.

Job Brief:

We're looking for a System Administrator to help us keep our systems running smoothly. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining our servers, ensuring that our software is up to date and resolving any issues that may arise. If you have a passion for technology and a keen eye for detail, then this is the role for you.

System Administrator Duties:

  • Ensure the proper functioning of the computer systems and networks within the strategic business plan
  • Maintain daily backups of critical data on both on-site and off-site servers
  • Establish and implement new and upgraded technology within the network
  • Develop, administer, and maintain the computing infrastructure
  • Acquire and administer hardware, software, and peripherals
  • Tester and debug operating systems
  • Identify and resolve network problems
  • Ensure that the data network remains an up-to-date and comprehensive resource
  • Coordinate implementation of new technology within the network
  • Train staff members on software applications

System Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Support IT/IS operations, including systems design, implementation, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting
  • Design and implement failover and disaster recovery solutions
  • Manage security access levels, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor and maintain network assets, including servers, applications, and databases
  • Monitor hardware and software for performance and availability
  • Establish IT operational standards and procedures
  • Perform security audits; maintain, update, and test security policies, and monitor firewall activity
  • Develop, maintain, and update IT policies, standards, procedures, and documentation
  • Support training and communications
  • Research, select, and procure new hardware and software

Requirements And Skills:

  • Proven systems administration experience, including Windows, Linux, Apache, MySQL, TCP/IP networks, Web Server
  • Proven experience with database management systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Proven ability to organize and manage workload
