A tool and die maker designs, develops, and manufactures the tooling used in the creation of various products.

These tools are used to create molds, dies, jigs, fixtures, or gauges.

This job may include designing and fabricating fixtures or molds for casting, extrusion, or forming metal or non-metallic products.

There are 2 main classifications of tool and die makers: 1- Tool and die makers use blueprints, drawings, and sketches to design parts for molds, tools, and other equipment.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Tool and Die Maker to help us create custom tools and dies that can be used in a variety of manufacturing processes. With your experience and creativity, we know that you will be able to create the tools and dies that we need to help us produce the best products possible.

Tool and Die Maker Duties:

  • Direct the production of precision metal parts through the use of precision machines
  • Test metal parts to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Perform maintenance on equipment to ensure smooth functioning
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used, parts made, and time spent on project
  • Advise on tooling, machining techniques, and materials to others
  • Attend meetings, training events, and other functions as required

Tool and Die Maker Responsibilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of all phases of tool making and tool repair
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high production environment
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work with limited supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices

Requirements And Skills:

  • Train and supervise all Tool and Die Makers and Machine Operators
  • Drive, operate, and maintain a complete shop of equipment, including machines, handtools, and machinery
  • Maintain detailed records of productivity, inventory, and shop expenses
  • Maintain customer and vendor relationships, and assist with purchasing and billing
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
