A typist maintains a keyboard and records data, such as telephone numbers, names and addresses, and financial information.

Typists usually work in an office and type at a computer, although some may type reports or letters manually.

In large companies, typists typically report to the business owner, office manager, or human resources manager.

Typists usually need at least a high school diploma.

Typists should be accurate, have good attention to detail, and be able to concentrate for long periods of time.

Job Brief:

We're looking for a typist who is reliable and can type quickly.

Typist Duties:

  • Assist in all phases of the office management function
  • Provide administrative and technical support (including typing, filing, copying, faxing, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain records of office activities
  • Consolidate, sort, and file correspondence
  • Assist in other general office activities

Typist Responsibilities:

  • Strong typing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, peers, and subordinates
  • Written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience in fast-paced business environment preferred
