The ultrasound technician or sonographer is a medical professional trained to hear and diagnose problems using ultrasound equipment.

Sonographers often specialize in obstetric and gynecology, vascular, or cardiac ultrasound and can also perform echocardiography.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Ultrasound Technician to fill a position in our hospital. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a hospital setting and be able to provide excellent patient care.

Ultrasound Technician Duties:

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using ultrasound and ultrasound-guided needle techniques
  • Perform technical ultrasound examinations
  • Maintain and update medical charts
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound
  • Schedule appointments and screening exams
  • Perform patient preparation
  • Advise patients of test findings
  • Record patient information and prepare quality reports
  • Provide indirect patient care
  • Schedule patient follow-up appointments and exam times

Ultrasound Technician Responsibilities:

  • Current ARRT certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • 4+ years’ professional experience in sonography
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at multi-tasking
  • Strongly motivated and customer-service oriented
  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions

Requirements And Skills:

  • Perform ultrasound examinations of patient’s anatomy and physiology with the cooperation of the patient and under the direction of physicians.
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, and provide continuing medical education to physicians.
  • Perform sonographic examinations using appropriate equipment in accordance with established standards.
  • Oversee patient triage, and assist with clinical procedures, including injection and aspiration of fluid.
  • Perform basic procedural skills, including performance of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration, biopsies, and venipuncture.
  • Remain current in ultrasound practice and procedures by participating in continuing medical education programs.
  • Be responsible for keeping the clinic clean and sterile.
  • Assist other medical technicians as requested.
