A welder helper is a person who works with welders on the job, often assisting with loading and unloading of welding equipment, setting up and maintaining the welding equipment, and assisting the welder in the welding process.

A welder helper must have mechanical aptitude and be physically fit.

The welder helper often works outdoors, so he or she needs to be able to tolerate the heat and hazardous materials.

The welder helper must also be able to work well with others.

He or she needs to be able to follow directions and instructions from the welder.

The welder helper will need a high school diploma or GED.

The welder helper will need to learn how to weld, and he or she will need to be licensed

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Welder Helper to work with our team in the shop. The ideal candidate will have some experience with welding and be able to lift 50lbs.

Welder Helper Duties:

  • Assist in assembling and securing equipment prior to welding, using power tools and measuring devices to weld stainless steel or mild steel
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe manner
  • Complete work assignments according to contractor’s schedule and quality standards
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools
  • Meet customer demands
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Welder Helper Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks assigned by welders, including cutting, bending, and assembling parts
  • Identify and report any welding, cutting, or bending errors
  • Certified Welder II or Certified Welder III (or equivalent)
  • 3-5 years welding experience
  • 2-5 years supervising welding personnel
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Requirements And Skills:

  • Proven experience assisting welders in a fabrication shop
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, or specifications
  • Knowledge of commonly used hand tools, power tools, and machine tools
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to consistently meet production standards
