Youth Pastor Job Description

A youth pastor is a church leader whose primary responsibility is to help guide and minister to youth.

The youth pastor usually works with the youth of the church and is responsible for programming, discipling, and recruiting youth leaders.

Additionally, the youth pastor helps youth leaders organize youth events, oversee and implement Sunday programming, provide pastoral care for youth and parents, and makes sure the church has an appropriately staffed youth program.

We’re looking for a Youth Pastor who can help us connect with our community and grow our youth ministry.

Youth Pastor Duties:

  • Hire, train, and oversee volunteers
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to grow youth ministry
  • Develop and oversee curriculum for Bible studies, Bible classes, and youth groups
  • Provide spiritual guidance and inspire youth to follow God
  • Develop long-term ministry and outreach plans
  • Actively pursue strategic partnerships with churches, community groups, and students
  • Oversee and be responsible for youth ministries, including camps, retreats, and mission trips
  • Offer spiritual guidance, wisdom, and encouragement
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor to youth

Youth Pastor Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee weekly youth ministry activities, including teaching, small groups, discipleship, and outreach
  • Decide on and implement volunteer recruiting and retention strategies
  • Develop, implement, and manage a budget, including salaries, employment expenses, and church services
  • Plan and organize events, including community festivals, outreaches, and fundraisers
  • Oversee facility maintenance, including logistics for custodial and landscaping staff
  • Develop and implement curriculum, including Sunday School classes, Bible studies, and youth retreats
  • Manage a ministry budget, including salaries, expenses, and fundraising
  • Meet regularly with youth and adult volunteers

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in religious studies, theology, or other related field
  • Experience working with young people in their church community
  • Knowledge of youth ministry practices and principles
  • Knowledge of Bible
