Cabinet maker is a person who builds and/or repairs cabinets, or woodwork in general.

Cabinet makers design, construct, and restore cabinets, and use a variety of tools, techniques, and materials to complete the work.

They mostly work with wood, but may also work with metals and plastics, depending on the type of cabinet they are designing and creating.

Cabinet makers are responsible for measuring and cutting the lumber to size, drilling holes, and joining different parts of the cabinet together.

Some cabinet makers also stain, varnish, or paint the cabinets.

  • Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing job site activities, creating detailed work plans, and managing project schedules
  • Maintain site safety processes
  • Oversee the timely installation of cabinets, closets, and storage systems
  • Maintain detailed records of materials and labor used
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors
  • Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization

Cabinet Maker Responsibilities:

  • Create and install custom cabinets for kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and other applications
  • Procure materials and equipment as needed
  • Perform finish work, like sanding, staining, and priming
  • Assist customers with design and layout needs
  • Assist with installation of products, including hanging doors, plugging in outlets, and completing other project details

Requirements And Skills:

  • Experience in assembling, sanding, routing, and staining cabinets and cabinetry
  • Experience with wood finishing techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledge of cabinetry assembly methods, terminology, and methods
