Nuclear Engineer Duties

-Manage the daily operations of nuclear power plants, ensuring that they function as safely as possible
-Reconcile engineering and operational information necessary for safe operation
-Analyze operations to find weaknesses and propose improvements
-Apply knowledge of engineering principles and nuclear physics to ensure that the nuclear plants perform correctly
-Perform analyses of the safety systems, processes, and components to ensure safety
-Promote safety research, development, and improvements
-Contribute to research and development efforts
-Call for and attend meetings as necessary

Nuclear Engineer Responsibilities

-Design, develop, and test components and systems used in nuclear energy facilities, such as turbine generators and auxiliary systems
-Incorporate engineering controls to ensure nuclear safety by reviewing and approving safety analyses and evaluations
-Develop technical designs, specifications, standards, guidelines, and procedures
-Conduct detailed analyses, evaluations, and design reviews
-Conduct research, experiments, and surveys
-Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections
-Staff and lead project teams
-Implement standardized engineering practices
-Develop cost estimates and monitor budgets
-Perform other duties as assigned

Requirment And Skills

-University degree
-5+ years’ of experience
-Knowledge of nuclear engineering (reactor, safety, fuel cycle, solidification, decommissioning, etc.)
-Knowledge of commercial nuclear power reactor design and operation
-Skilled in engineering design
