Ground Staff Job Description

The Ground Staff is a group of employees, often uniformed, who greet and load passengers into airplanes, buses, trains, and ships.

They direct travelers to the proper boarding or seating area.

Ground Staff working in airports, bus stations, train stations, and seaports include ticket checkers, baggage handlers, gate agents, and porters.

They assist passengers with luggage, assist with check-ins, provide information to passengers, and monitor safety procedures.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Ground Staff to help with the day-to-day running of the airport. You’ll be responsible for check-in, baggage handling, and making sure the airport is clean and running smoothly.

Ground Staff Duties:

  • Coordinate activities with architects, engineers, and vendors
  • Review and approve all plans, specifications, and drawings as well as coordinate all on-site activities
  • Manage job scheduling and schedule keeping
  • Manage and monitor progress consistently throughout the project
  • Oversee the permitting, licensing, and insurance requirements
  • Assist with site layout, site set-up, and site clean-up

Ground Staff Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a park-like environment in a shopping mall, including cleaning grounds, restrooms, walkways, trash removal, landscaping, and snow removal
  • Maintain unit appearance, including interior cleaning, changing linens, and restocking amenities
  • Attend to customer requests, such as changing linens, assisting with luggage, and providing information
  • Greet guests and answer phones
  • Assist with building maintenance tasks, including fixing plumbing, A/C, and electrical issues
  • Report building maintenance issues to superiors and vendors
  • Coordinate the opening and closing of shopping centers
  • Assist with keeping staff on schedule
