Baggage Porters, also known as Baggage Handlers, are people that deal with baggage in airports.

They unload luggage from planes, sort the items, and load them onto different flights.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Baggage Porter to help us out with our luggage. We need someone who is strong and can handle heavy bags. If you think you’re up for the job, please let us know.

Baggage Porter Duties:

  • Oversees the baggage operations of the terminal
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental statutes, regulations, and standards; airlines’ standard operating procedures; and customer and company policies and procedures
  • Oversees all baggage processing operations, from receiving incoming baggage to ensuring all baggage is correctly tagged, sorted, and routed to the appropriate airfield for transport
  • Monitors the luggage storage areas to ensure proper utilization of space and proper storage of customer baggage
  • Maintain supervision of all baggage handlers, ensuring that they are properly trained and qualified, and that they are in compliance with the company’s attendance, performance evaluation, and disciplinary procedures
  • Oversee the departure and arrivals of passengers, ensuring they are in compliance with all company policies, laws, and regulations
  • Manage all airport personnel and operations

Baggage Porter Responsibilities:

  • Assist passengers with luggage at the airline check-in desk
  • Conduct luggage drop-off and pick-up at aircraft gates for domestic and international flights
  • Place baggage on carousels for loading onto aircraft
  • Sort and load baggage on baggage carts for transportation to and from aircraft
  • Unload baggage from aircraft and load on flight carts or baggage carts for transportation to baggage claim area
  • Assure that baggage carts and baggage claim area are kept clean and sanitary
  • Find missing baggage
  • Collect and distribute lost and found items and luggage tags
  • Provide excellent customer service to passengers
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment

Requirements And Skills:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent attendance record
  • 2 years of customer service experience
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk long distances, be on your feet for extended periods of time, and work on your feet in uncomfortable situations
  • Proven dependability and positive attitude
