Mechanical Designer Duties:

  • Develop and unitize detailed mechanical drawings and specifications for various mechanical systems, including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning; plumbing; fire protection; and refrigeration systems
  • Research and procure new/replacement equipment and parts as needed
  • Develop budgets
  • Perform site walks and inspections
  • Oversee the maintenance and service of building equipment

Mechanical Designer Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document design concepts and solutions, ensuring that products and services meet customer requirements and quality standards, and that construction drawings are accurate and complete
  • Prepare design calculations for equipment and piping, and develop standard and nonstandard drawings using CADD and BIM software
  • Execute and document design testing procedures
  • Prepare budget estimates and bids for design projects
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing personnel, and with suppliers throughout the design process

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 1+ years’ mechanical engineering design experience
  • Experience in all aspects of mechanical engineering design
  • Knowledge of drafting practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of technical specification and contract drafting
  • Knowledge of building code requirements
