A credit specialist is a person who provides credit advice to customers, granting or denying the creditrequest.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Credit Specialist to join our team! As a Credit Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing credit information for our customers. You will also be responsible for making recommendations to our credit department regarding credit decisions. If you are a motivated individual with a strong attention to detail, then we want you on our team!

Credit Specialist Duties:

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, negotiating and preparing financing and loan documents
  • Develop, maintain, and supervise credit underwriting guidelines and processes
  • Obtain accurate and timely credit reports for various customers
  • Research, analyze, evaluate and resolve credit related issues
  • Maintain credit files
  • Suggest alternative credit solutions

Credit Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and information to other business units or departments regarding credit policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and credit programs
  • Review applications for credit, including but not limited to: construction loans, lines of credit, equipment finance, working capital, and credit card applications
  • Make appropriate credit decisions, including but not limited to approving credit applications
  • Examine applications to determine financial status, characteristics, and risk of a borrower to a lender
  • Order credit reports on applicants
  • Review credit applications, credit references, and credit histories
  • Perform credit and credit analysis
  • Recommend approval or disapproval of applications
  • Analyze credit risks
  • Review credit applications and credit histories
  • Review, analyze, and interpret financial, accounting, and budgeting information
  • Make recommendations regarding reviewers of credit applications
  • Contact applicants to discuss credit application status

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience with lending industry in collections, credit analysis, or underwriting
  • Strong computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
