Mortgage Broker Duties:

  • Maintain current knowledge of mortgage programs
  • Assist home buyers in selecting mortgage loan programs and terms
  • Proactively stay on top of industry trends
  • Partner with clients in a positive and constructive manner
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with current and potential customers
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies

Mortgage Broker Responsibilities:

  • Work with borrowers to negotiate loan terms, including interest rates, monthly payments, and fees
  • Work with investors or financial institutions to find financing for borrower loans
  • Determine borrower eligibility, including income and credit, and approve or reject loan requests
  • Conduct finance assessments, including credit reports and debt-to-income ratios, and issue debt-to-income ratio determination letters to potential borrowers
  • Prepare loan packages, including promissory notes, mortgage applications, and mortgage documents, and submit them to loan underwriters for compliance and approval
  • Prepare loan closing statements
  • Handle borrower inquiries and complaints
  • Assist borrowers in resolving loan issues
  • Perform regular reviews to ensure borrower compliance with loan terms
  • Handle post-closing transactions
  • Keep accurate records of all loan transactions
  • Assist in the education and training of new employees

Requirements And Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the financial services industry, including those regulations that affect it
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage lending procedures and regulations
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting practices and guidelines, including gathering and analyzing economic data and financial information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills
