Canvasser Job Description

A canvasser is someone who solicits support for a social cause or political candidate typically door to door.

The canvasser’s job is typically to identify potential supporters or sympathizers of a particular cause or candidate and approach them for donations.

Canvassers can also work with candidates or political organizations before an election to help collect contributions for party or candidate coffers.

Canvassers typically work indoors and outdoors, with inclement weather often an issue.

Sometimes canvassers must be able to work in extreme hot or cold conditions.

Canvasser Duties

-Assist in door to door canvassing, such as weekly and monthly, as well as door to door canvasses and events
-Manage all data, such as addresses, names, and phone numbers
-Conduct community outreach events
-Responsible for organizing and executing community outreach events
-Attend monthly staff meetings

Canvasser Responsibilities

-Drive company sales goals by maintaining rapport with customers
-Build and maintain a large volume of daily sales calls
-Maintain a presence in high traffic areas
-Drive sales goals by working with existing customers, as well as by prospecting for new ones
-Provide excellent customer service, maintain a professional appearance, and appear knowledgeable on products and services
-Meet weekly sales goals

Requirment And Skills

-Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, journalism, communications, or related field
1+ years’ experience as a canvasser or call center agent
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Strong phone presence and customer service skills
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
