Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Academic Advisor who can help us choose the right classes, make a degree plan, and understand university policies.

Academic Advisor Duties:

  • Advise students on academic matters, including academic standing, graduation requirements, and graduation requirements
  • Provide academic counseling
  • Provide career counseling
  • Work with faculty in the department to assist in the development of academic programming
  • Provide support and assistance in all of the student services offices
  • Evaluate students’ progress toward graduation
  • Provide information and counseling on academic problems

Academic Advisor Responsibilities:

  • Train, guide, and advise students on academic planning, including curriculum, graduation requirements, and career opportunities
  • Attend, lead, and participate in campus and department activities, including college, department, and student organization meetings
  • Provide students with information and support on academic issues and campus resources, including career, educational, and financial aid information
  • Assist students with identifying and pursuing personal, educational, and career goals
  • Conduct career assessments, perform career counseling, and refer students to resources as appropriate

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field
  • 3+ years of proven experience in advising college/university students
  • Knowledge of college/university admissions requirements
  • Ability to understand and communicate to students and their parents about financial aid options
  • Ability to counsel students with personal, career and academic issues
