An assistant superintendent is responsible for the daily operations of the construction site.

In some cases, the assistant superintendent will supervise the day-to-day work of other construction crews.

Assistant Superintendent Duties:

  • Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
  • Develop and manage project schedules
  • Establish and maintain effective work processes
  • Document and present work progress and staff performance
  • Deliver high quality work product
  • Oversee onsite staff and materials
  • Ensure proper quality control of all work

Assistant Superintendent Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Superintendent with the management of construction projects, as well as assist with the preparation and implementation of monthly projects reports and monthly construction schedules
  • Responsible for timekeeping and payroll processes, including forms processing and time sheets
  • Coordinate job planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet project, company, and client requirements
  • Identify and resolve problems, and determine the factors that led to them
  • Maintain and closeout all project files
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and training

Requirements And Skills:

  • Proven experience as a superintendent on similar projects
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to adjust priorities as necessary
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under time pressure
  • Knowledge of construction methods
