Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Managing Editor to lead our editorial team and help shape the voice of our brand. As Managing Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our editorial team, as well as working with our editorial staff to develop and execute our editorial calendar. In addition, you will also be responsible for working with our marketing and sales teams to ensure that our content is aligned with our business goals.

Managing Editor Duties:

  • Develop and manage marketing strategies and action plans
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned publication(s)
  • Create editorial calendars, assign content, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure advertisements and marketing campaigns are coordinated with editorial content
  • Translate and revise website content and copy
  • Ensure that content is easy to read, accurate, and up-to-date
  • Create online content and copy
  • Write press releases
  • Research and develop content for print, online, and broadcast

Managing Editor Responsibilities:

  • Produce content on a continuous basis, including articles, photos, videos, graphics, and multimedia
  • Establish editorial calendars, presentations, and project timelines
  • Manage the editorial process, including writing, editing, researching, interviewing, fact-checking, and layout, and collaborate with writers, photographers,
  • designers, and videographers
  • Maintain accurate records, including by maintaining files, databases, and financial records, and submitting reports
  • Manage digital and print content distribution, including website and social media management
  • Manage workflow, processes, and procedures, and respond tactfully and effectively to internal and external customers’ requests

Requirements And Skills:

  • University degree in journalism, English, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in publishing
  • Experience supervising and editing news articles
  • Experience in proofreading and editing text
  • Knowledge of AP Style
