An architectural engineer (AE) is an engineer who specializes in the design of buildings, their components, and systems.

AEs often work at firms that specialize in a particular field of building design such as residential, educational, or industrial.

AEs are employed by firms or government agencies and are often involved in preliminary sketches, 3D models, and computer simulations of proposed building designs.

AEs are also involved in projects from the initial planning stages, with architects and clients, through construction, and into the post-construction phase.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for an Architectural Engineer to help us with our latest project. We need someone who is experienced in this field and can help us to create a successful outcome.

Architectural Engineer Duties:

  • Make technical recommendations related to construction, architectural, or engineering projects
  • Prepare and interpret construction documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Perform calculations related to construction, architectural, or engineering projects
  • Review technical work products and prepare drafts of technical documents
  • Develop specifications for construction, architectural, or engineering projects
  • Design structural systems and components
  • Manage projects from initial planning to completion
  • Develop creative solutions to construction, architectural, or engineering problems

Architectural Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and manage product installations
  • Develop material and construction specifications, and attend coordination meetings
  • Oversee safety aspects of project, including daily contractor safety meetings
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Maintain and update materials, equipment, and construction plans
  • Track project budgets and monitor expenditure against budget
  • Perform quality control inspections
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate architectural, engineering, and support staff
  • Manage construction projects in compliance with established codes, standards, and regulations
  • Perform inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Develop project budgets
  • Plan and oversee construction and/or remodeling activities

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field
  • 3+ years’ proven experience as an architectural designer or architectural engineer
  • Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD (ideally with Revit experience as well)
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Knowledge of building
