Hospice is an end-of-life care provider that ensures patients receive end-of-life care that is comfortable, compassionate, and respectful.

Hospices focus on taking the emotional and physical pain away from terminally ill patients.

Hospice care is provided at home, hospitals or skilled nursing facilities, and patients can remain under hospice care until death.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for Hospice Aid to help us care for our patients in their homes. Hospice Aid provides personal care and emotional support to patients and families facing a life-limiting illness.

Hospice Aid Duties:

  • Provide immediate assistance to terminally ill patients and their families
  • Assist in answering phone calls
  • Assist caregivers in administering medications and treatments to sick or injured patients
  • Sort and sterilize medical equipment and supplies
  • Assist with patient’s personal hygiene
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their family members
  • Record medical information and vital signs
  • Clean and disinfect patient’s environment
  • Place patients to bed
  • Take vital signs
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families
  • Other duties as assigned

Hospice Aid Responsibilities:

  • Intermediate knowledge of hospice basics
  • Ability to read and speak English

Requirements And Skills:

  • Assist home health aides, nurses, social workers, and other health professionals in delivering patient care, and serve as a liaison between home health aides and physicians
  • Determine patients’ needs, communicate changes, and record observations, and instruct and help patients perform activities of daily living
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate home health aides
  • Perform clerical duties, maintain patient records, and answer phones
  • Perform administrative duties, including reviewing physician orders, scheduling appointments, and filing
  • Research and research payment and billing issues
  • Perform other work duties as assigned
