Periodontists are specialists who treat diseases of the gums and bone that surround and support the teeth.

Periodontists receive extra training in treating diseases of the bone and gums.

They focus on treating those conditions to prevent tooth loss.

Pedodontists, on the other hand, focus on treating conditions that affect the teeth.

Periodontists treat gum disease, as well as, abnormal bone growths, which may develop as a result of gingivitis or periodontitis.

Periodontists also help patients who are undergoing orthodontic treatment, preventing oral health problems that can interfere with the success of orthodontic treatment.

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Periodontist to help us with our dental needs. We’d like to find someone who is experienced and qualified to help us keep our teeth and gums healthy.

Periodontist Duties:

  • Maintain competence in all aspects of periodontal and implant dentistry
  • Implement advanced clinical procedures
  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Provide professional and technical leadership and mentoring
  • Proven ability to delegate effectively
  • Perform regular and prompt communication with team members
  • Maintain and update records in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Maintain and improve existing skills through on-going education and professional tests

Periodontist Responsibilities:

  • Manage and grow a practice by performing the following tasks:
  • Meet with new and existing patients to assess dental needs and provide treatment;
  • Perform professional dental cleanings, x-rays, and periodontal charting;
  • Develop treatment plans and recommend procedures;
  • Advise patients on preventive care;
  • Develop and maintain referral sources;
  • Perform cosmetic periodontal procedures;
  • Procure equipment and supplies;
  • Manage practice finances;
  • Attend to patient and staff needs.

Requirements And Skills:

  • Dental degree
  • 3+ years experience in management and/or leadership of dental operations
  • Knowledge of financial/cash management, human resources, insurance, and compliance
  • Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
