A Recreation Assistant is an employee whose primary function is to assist recreation staff with program activities at the camp.

A recreation assistant may assist the staff in performing the following duties: * Providing general assistance to campers, such as assisting with toiletry needs, carrying supplies and equipment, or escorting campers to and from the program area * Monitoring campers’ behavior to ensure that activities, games, or excursions are completed safely * Directing campers during activities that are performed within the program area * Assisting the recreation staff in maintaining program records, such as inputting data into the camper registration

Job Brief:

We’re looking for a Recreation Assistant to help us with our recreation program. This person will be responsible for helping us plan and implement recreation activities for our clients.

Recreation Assistant Duties:

  • Assist the Recreation Manager with managing and operating the JCC facilities, as needed, including member services, program support, and facility maintenance
  • Provide support to staff leaders by facilitating meetings, assisting in recruiting/hiring, and leading and/or supporting program development
  • Additionally, manage administrative functions, including scheduling, budgeting, and office supply ordering
  • Provide administrative and office support
  • Monitor facilities, equipment, and supplies to ensure adequate and appropriate levels
  • Oversee programming, leisure and recreational opportunities for all ages
  • Serve as a liaison with parents, families, community groups, civic organizations, and sponsors
  • Maintain accurate records of program participation and attendance
  • Represent the JCC at various community events
  • Oversee reservations and greet guests

Recreation Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily facility operations, including maintaining cleanliness, housekeeping, and order, and partnering with supervisors and managers to meet daily goals
  • Assist with program coordination and management, including developing and coordinating program plans, coordinating staff and activities, and supervising recreation staff
  • Assist with facility maintenance and upkeep, including facility inspections, troubleshooting, and reporting maintenance issues
  • Assist with safety oversight and emergency preparedness
  • Provide customer service as needed

Requirements And Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, parks, or tourism administration or a related field
  • 2+ years experience in recreation or tourism
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to greet individuals, resolve problems, and answer questions
  • Ability to interact with the public in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of basic
